Product Care

Caring for your furniture is essential to maintain its beauty and longevity. Whether it’s a cozy sofa, elegant dining table, or a sturdy bed frame, proper maintenance ensures that your furniture continues to enhance your living space for years to come. In this guide, we’ll share essential tips and best practices for caring for various types of furniture.

Leather

Know your leather! Some of our leather pieces have no additional sealant or insoluble dyes applied to preserve the natural characteristics of the leather. As a result, aniline leather is more sensitive to stains, temperature fluctuations and light. We also sell our own leather cleaning products to add durability and years of life to your furnishings.

Leather upkeep quick tips
  1. Avoid direct sunlight and extreme temperatures to prevent fading and drying out.
  2. For regular cleaning, wipe with a damp, colorfast cloth and dry thoroughly.
  3. Apply a protective coat of color- less leather cream every 4 to 6 months.
Cleaning and Maintenance

As with all 100% leather products, our sofas and chairs will show signs of wear over time, giving the items a unique patina. Accordingly, the leather should be treated to maintain its suppleness and reduce the absorption of dirt and oils, rather than to restore the leather’s color.

Clean with a slightly damp, colorfast rag, moistened with warm water and a small amount of mild soap. You can also use leather-specific cleaners and wipes. Whichever you are using, be sure to dry the leather thoroughly with a soft cloth.

Upholstery

The faster you’re able to soak up spills, the better. Use paper towels to absorb as much of the spill as possible, then spot clean as needed with a color fast cloth dampened with warm water, and air dry. More stubborn stains may require professional cleaning.

Velvet

Velvet pieces should then be smoothed with a velvet brush in the direction of the pile. Heavily used pieces should be cleaned once a week. Direct exposure to sunlight should be avoided to prevent fading.

Wood

The faster you’re able to soak it up, the better. Use paper towels or colorfast cloths to absorb as much of the spill as possible, then wipe clean with a soft cloth, and air dry.

For regular cleaning, moisten a soft cloth with warm water and mild soap, and work in the direction of the wood grain, then wipe dry.

Avoid using abrasive soaps, all-purpose household cleaners and mixtures containing boiled linseed oil, turpentine or white vinegars.

For outdoor-suitable wood pieces, we recommend keeping the furniture dry by covering or bringing it indoors in the event of rain.

Wood upkeep quick tips
  1. Be especially careful with hot items! Use coasters, trivets and placemats as protective barriers.
  2. Direct exposure to sunlight and extreme temperatures should be avoided to prevent fading.
  3. Prevent staining and keep wood looking rich by applying a conditioning oil every 4 to 6 months.

Marble

As marble is a product of nature, the veining pattern and intensity differs per type of marble and is unique for each item. Whether the stone is very mottled and veined or has very few veins is therefore beyond our control. While the marble should, of course, never be cracked or broken, our products may show small imperfections, such as marks and blemishes, that naturally developed during the formation of the marble stone.

Marble upkeep quick tips
  1. Be especially careful with hot items! Use coasters, trivets and placemats as protective barriers.
  2. Apply a color intensifier every 4 to 6 months to nourish, protect and maintain the natural beauty of the marble.
  3. Prevent staining and keep marble looking rich by applying a conditioning oil every 4 to 6 months.
Marble Care and Maintenance

Marble is a porous stone and therefore easily absorbs liquids. The extent to which liquids can permeate marble differs per type and color of the stone. However, because marble is a porous stone and therefore easily absorbs liquids, a protective sealant should be applied before use to protect the marble against grease and dirt.

Since the coat of sealant will wear away over time, we recommend repeating this treatment as needed, according to sealant solution package instructions. Please note that marble should not be exposed to hot objects or acidic liquids. Use coasters and wipe up spills immediately.

Recommended Products for Marble

COLOR INTENSIFIER

This product enhances the marble’s color and brings it back to life, while also nourishing and protecting the stone against dirt and staining by water or other liquids. Suitable for dark marble, such as green and black marble.

STAIN PROTECTOR

This product protects the marble invisibly against stains and penetrating liquids. Please read and heed the care product instructions for the optimal protection of the marble.

Plastics

Moisten a soft cloth (microfiber is great for this purpose) with warm water and mild soap. Wipe clean with a cloth dampened with water alone and dry thoroughly. Do not use solvents or abrasive kitchen cleaners. You can also try a melamine foam sponge for buffing and tricky stains.

Garment dyes can bleed onto lighter-colored plastics.

Galvanized Steel

Mild stains can be removed from galvanized steel with the use of all-purpose cleaners. Regularly, wipe down with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.

This is the only steel covered under our outdoor warranty.

Steel and Aluminum

Moisten a soft cloth with warm water and mild soap. Wipe clean with a cloth dampened with water alone and dry thoroughly. Do not use any harsh abrasives or cleaning solutions.

Fixtures

Fixtures only require a light dusting to stay beautiful. For periodic deeper cleaning, moisten a soft cloth (microfiber is great for this purpose) with warm water and very mild soap. Using gentle pressure, wipe clean with a cloth dampened with water alone and dry thoroughly.
